Elvis Costello Starts The 2017 Summer Tour In California

Elvis Costello has announced a North American Summer tour with longtime band the Imposters. Over twenty dates, launching on June 3rd in Berkeley, CA and closing on July 25th in Providence, RI, the singer songwriter and his iconic band will be continuing their “Imperial Bedroom & Other Chambers” trek that was started in the fall of 2016. The tour uses material from the artist’s 1982 album “Imperial Bedroom” as a foundation.

In a recent statement, Costello underlined that the band isn’t aiming for nostalgia with recent shows. “We never intended to recite this book from cover to cover. Listen to our new arrangement of ‘Tears Before Bedtime’; it gets straight to the real meaning of that song, the way we hear and feel it today. Back in 1982, I might have been a step or two ahead of our crowd in the tragic, romantic stakes, but I sense that they’ve all caught up with me now.

Featured in the current Imposters line-up are drummer Pete Thomas, singer-bassist Davey Faragher and keyboardist Steve Nieve, along with guest vocalists Kitten Kuroi and YahZarah.

“Imperial Bedroom,” was produced by famed Beatles engineer Geoff Emerick, and features Costello classics like “Almost Blue” and “Beyond Belief“. The album, considered to be a masterpiece by many, will be sure to produce some memorable nights for audiences.
