It’s more of that Pre-NAMM week magic. Everyone is in town, so it only makes sense that this kind of entertainment happens on stage around town.
For the opening show of Soundcheck Live‘s 2017 season, featuring Steve Ferlazzo and friends as the resident house band – a unique line-up of guests were invited to perform, and perform they did! Mid-show guest curator Nuno Bettencourt appeared with friends including Stu Hamm, Tom Morello, Richie Kotzen – and as seen here, with Steve Vai – where Nuno lays down the bass line for the classic David Lee Roth song “Yankee Rose.”
Years back, in Hudson, MA – during one of the now famous Turkey Jams with the Bettencourt family, I was privy to shooting photos of Nuno ripping it up on the bass guitar with his brother Paulo‘s band FLESH; the greatest funk metal band to come out of Boston, and perhaps, the world. Sadly, for me, I wasn’t shooting video that night.
Tonight, I was able to share video of Nuno on the bass, and this time with Steve Vai. I hope you enjoy a front of stage view of that moment.
