In a strange twist of fate, just a year ago, the music scene opened doors for Steve Ferlazzo and friends to create a showcase that has drawn some of rock music’s most significant artists to the stage for a one-of-a-kind FREE weekly event. Yes, that was typed correctly – it’s FREE entertainment in Hollywood. If you haven’t attended yet – now is the time. Scribble down the date – January 11th, at Lucky Strike Lanes in Hollywood.
For those in the know, the weekly editions of Soundcheck Live were 2016’s go-to event for live music fans. With more than three hours of on stage performance, consistent surprise guests and the benefit of great food and drinks, old and new friends from the local music scene, and of course – it’s FREE. (I keep mentioning that, I know.) For those who haven’t heard; maybe you’ve been out of town for the past 52 weeks – the Soundcheck Live weekly showcase brings top national touring talents, brand name recording artists and people from across the map to a clean, safe and fun filled environment where professionals perform music you know from major market FM radio, and often, it’s performed by the people who actually wrote it.
2017 begins the second year of Soundcheck Live at Lucky Strike Lanes, right on the corner of Hollywood and Highland … look for the line at the door. To start the new year of weekly events, founder Steve Ferlazzo is sharing big surprises on the stage, and you do not want to miss this show.
Soundcheck Live consists of three music sets. The first set is performed by resident house band members, Steve Ferlazzo (Avril Lavigne), Glen Sobel (Alice Cooper), Steve Fekete (Vertical Horizon), Derek Frank (Shania Twain) and Carl Restivo (Tom Morello). Other noteable guest appearances take place in the first set. Performers announced for the opening 2017 night will include:
Brandon Baumann (Diamond Lane)
Anthony Tiny Biuso (Doyle)
Leah Martin-Brown (Evol Walks)
Eliot Lorango (Kelly Osbourne)
Nicki Tedesco (Frantic Ginger)
Annette Frank (Generation Idol)
Daniel Spriewald (The Drills)
The show’s second set is a carefully curated collection of songs by the event’s special guest. While there will be many guests at this showcase, the curator for the night will be multi-instrumental genius and guitar wizard Nuno Bettencourt. Bettencourt was also the first guest to perform at the first Soundcheck Live showcase last year. His personal guests for the set on the 11th have been shared to include fellow guitar idols Steve Vai (Frank Zappa, The DLR Band) and Richie Kotzen (Winery Dogs) – details of further guests to perform with Bettencourt have not been let out to the public yet.
The third set of the “season opener” is also going to be an amazing showcase of talents. Phil X (Bon Jovi) will take the stage with drum god Kenny Aronoff (John Mellencamp, John Fogerty) and bass guitar legend Stu Hamm (Joe Satriani, Steve Vai). Filling out the rest of the band, currently announced will be Randy Cooke (Smashmouth) and Nick Maybury (Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts). Again, more artists will appear, but the secret of they are has yet to be shared by Soundcheck Live.
Parking is available at a discounted rate in the adjacent parking garage, when validating your parking ticket – don’t leave it in the car – and early arrivals can enjoy the world famous Hollywood Walk of Fame, Jimmy Kimmel Theater and other sights right outside the Lucky Strike doors – or, enjoy some ganache at Lucky Strike.
